Technique 2: See Relationships, Not Personalities

You will take a major step in improving relationships and avoiding conflicts when you learn to concentrate on the relationship, not the personality at the end of the relationship line. Easy to say, sometimes hard to accomplish!

NOTE

Marla had high personal standards of grooming and social grace. She could find little right with her co-worker Kent. Without sensing the negative implications, she often tore him down in public by commenting on his lack of polish. When her supervisor suggested she look at the contribution Kent was making to the department and not at his personal habits of dress or imperfect grammar, her attitude started to change. Although Marla would not choose to mix socially with Kent, she recognized that he was a career professional with many unique talents.
