They’re Out to Get Me

Paranoid individuals are frightening. When you inconvenience them, they believe that you were consciously trying to hurt them, rather than that you were not adequately attentive to their preferences. Some may even believe you are evil and that your actions need to be stopped. If you harbor an uneasy feeling that paranoid managers could be violent, you are right. Although few paranoid managers become violent, of those managers who do, a significant percentage engage in paranoid thinking. Learning about paranoia is like wearing a safety belt. In all likelihood, you will be fine without it. But should there be a problem, it is much better if you are prepared.
