You Cannot Consistently Work with or Near People or Communicate with Them Frequently without Having Working Relationships with Them

There is another interesting characteristic about working relationships when viewed objectively. They are either strong or weak, warm or cool, healthy or unhealthy, friendly or distant. There appears to be no absolute neutral ground. Every relationship has a very small positive or negative content.

Have you ever heard someone say, “I can take her or leave her”? The phrase usually means that it doesn’t make any difference whether the person referred to is around or not. But the very fact that one makes such a comment indicates that it would be better if the person were not around. The relationship still exists, and in this case it is a little cool.
