Is Human Relations as Important in Small Organizations as It Is in Large Ones?

“Yes.” There are some important differences, though, between functioning in large and small organizations. Your progress over the long run may depend more on good human relations in a large company than in a small company. Why? Because there is more supervision and more human-relations responsibility in a large company. Some higher positions in these organizations are almost exclusively leadership positions, where human relations is 60 or 70 percent of the total job.

Also, the big companies were the first to introduce human-relations training for supervisors. They are likely to place more importance on it. It follows that because smaller companies may not provide as much training and assistance, you may have to develop human-relations skills on your own.
