Serendipity

Holding on to your positive attitude will never be easy. There are many techniques, however, that can help. Some will be discussed later in this book. One that will help you get started, especially when an irritating problem surfaces, is saying the word serendipity.

The word serendipity was coined by Horace Walpole in 1754 when he put the fairy tale The Three Princes of Serendip to paper. A modern version by Elizabeth Jamison Hodges was published in 1964. It is a delightful story of three princes who travel from kingdom to kingdom in a lighthearted, compassionate manner. In helping others solve their problems, they are led to the solution of a problem in their own kingdom.
