Providing Feedback to Difficult Employees 71 From the Manager's Desk The best way to ensure the feedback receiver has some control is to ask them whether it's a good time to talk about the topic or to ask them to set a good time. How do you do this? Here's one way: "Martha, I'd like to talk to you about making sure things get done on time. I need your help. Would this be a good time to talk about it? Or perhaps we might set a time?" Here's a firmer one: "Martha, I have some real concerns about what looks like delays in starting some projects, and I need to talk to you about it. Let's set a time when we can sit down and talk about it." This Won't Work!
