Part IV: Veil #3: I’m Not _____ Enough > Removing the Veil: Raising Your Self-E...

Chapter 26. Removing the Veil: Raising Your Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself. You either like yourself or you do not. If you do not like yourself, it will be very difficult for you to trust yourself enough to listen to your intuition, which will tell you what your passion is. Even if you do listen to yourself, if you have low self-esteem, you probably will not risk acting on your knowing. You will not feel you are “worth it.”

Like a three-legged stool, high self-esteem is supported by three things. First, you need a feeling of “I can,” or a sense of competence. You explored this in Veil#1 when you identified your talents and skills. Second, you need self-respect. Veil #2 described how shoulds can erode your self-respect, and how values enhance your self-respect. The third leg of self-esteem is self-worth. Self-worth comes from knowing your uniqueness. You will have an opportunity to explore your uniqueness in this part of the book.
