Chapter 19. Replacing Shoulds with Values Statements

Some of your shoulds may not reflect your values at all. In fact, they may be in direct opposition to your values. One of the best ways to let go of these shoulds is to replace them with values statements.

Look back at the list of shoulds you recorded earlier. Some of them were, in fact, values that you converted by changing your language. But the other statements do not represent what you believe. Please notice that you need to decide for yourself which shoulds are not your values. Different people will make different choices.
