The Midlife Transition

From the late 30s through the late 40s you make the great midlife transition. For some people this is a time of crisis as they reluctantly let go of the first half of life, while having no clear picture of the second half. The key issues that accompany this transition are accepting loss, completing your past, integrating your shadow, and realizing spiritual awakening or wholeness. The loss of a job or a relationship can trigger the question, “What is my purpose?” Completing the past may mean coming to terms with the fact that you chose work that pleased your family, but not yourself. Integrating your shadow can mean discovering the talents and gifts you possess that you have not used until now.
