Putting Your Self-Talk on Paper

Keeping a self-talk log is similar to keeping a time log or a food journal. It lets you see in writing what you are saying to yourself. Once your self-talk is on paper, you can analyze it for shoulds, judgments, and other negative thoughts. Reading what you have written can bring a painful awareness that you are damaging your own self-esteem with the language you use. Yet, until you know what you are doing, it is not possible to change. On the lines below, write down some of the things you are saying to yourself right now.
