Chapter 14. Recognizing Conflict Roles > Conflict in the Copy Center

Conflict in the Copy Center

Beverly has just received 85 copies of the handout material she will use for a presentation to all of her company’s regional and district managers and top executives. She discovers that two pages are missing entirely and that other pages contain several errors. She is dismayed to see that none of the illustrations were printed in color as she requested. She runs to the copy center.

“You idiots have ruined my presentation! I know I can’t expect much from this joke of a department, but this is the worst screw-up yet and I’m going to make sure the president hears about this one!” Jack, the copy center manager, responds, “What right do you have to come down here yelling at us? You always bring your stuff in at the last minute and expect us to work miracles for you! If you want perfect work, you’d better get your act together and allow some realistic lead time, lady!”
