Chapter 14. Recognizing Conflict Roles > Conflict in the Doctor’s Office

Conflict in the Doctor’s Office

Carl has been waiting about 30 minutes in the reception area to see his doctor when a nurse calls in another patient who arrived after him. Carl charges to the receptionist’s desk and bellows, “What’s going on here? I’ve been wasting my time out here for half an hour, and now you’re letting someone in to see the doctor before me! I demand that you get me in there right now!”

The receptionist replies, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I don’t know how this has happened, but I can’t leave the desk unattended, and I’m sure the doctor will see you soon if you’ll just wait a little longer.” Carl roars, “If I don’t get to see the doctor right now, I’m going to get a new doctor and I’ll make sure your boss knows you were the cause!”
