Define Success on Your Own Terms

Our concept of how much is enough can change as our wealth increases. The more we begin associating with others who have greater means, the more our eyes open to the possibilities of what “more” can do. As we compare our outcomes with others around us, we engage in a never-ending cycle of wanting more. What we have—and even who we are—then are never enough.

When we fall into a comparison mode, we are using external benchmarks for our success, and although this seems logical when competing with colleagues or neighbors, this can be a major obstacle in defining and creating our own balance.
