Chapter 13. SWT Trees > Using Images with TreeItem

13.5. Using Images with TreeItem

Most Trees will use an image to show the user the type of item that is represented by an item in the tree. Windows Explorer, for example, uses a closed folder to represent folders that are closed and an open folder to represent the folder that is currently open. Some file management systems that use trees will show files at the lowest level of the tree and will use an icon that depicts the file type to the user.

Note:

You want to use an image in almost all cases. It just looks better than the default tree. To the user, looks are everything.
