18.3. The End of the SWT Road

The SWTTextEditor concludes this book's examination of the SWT. I hope you have found the SWT to be as fascinating as I have. If a truly native look and feel is essential to your application, and you don't mind the overhead of shipping an extra runtime library, the SWT is the way to go.

But remember that the SWT is still relatively young. Some elements common in other toolkits are not yet present in the SWT—the ability to write true MDI applications, for example. Although the same comment may be made about other Java-component-based toolkits, such as SWT and SWING, it's even more true of the SWT.
