Part: I Widgets > The Mouse

Chapter 3. The Mouse

All of the operating systems on which SWT is implemented support a pointing device. Usually this is a mouse, but it may be a trackball, trackpad, or some other type of hardware. On handheld computers, the pointing device is almost always a stylus. To keep things simple, we refer to the pointing device as the mouse, regardless of the type of physical device.

The position of the mouse is usually indicated by a small icon on the screen called the cursor. This is true on all SWT platforms except for Windows CE. Because Windows CE devices normally use a “direct” pointing device, such as a stylus, they do not need an on-screen representation of where the pointer is located.
