16.7. Clipping and Regions

It is very common when implementing graphical user interfaces to need to control the parts of the drawing surface that are affected when a drawing operation is performed. This is called clipping. For example, you might want to constrain the area that you draw on in Figure 16.6 to be only the white rectangle.
