What Is MPEG?

MPEG-4 was developed through an open, collaborative effort among the member countries of the Geneva-based International Standardization Organization ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11, better known as the Moving Pictures Expert Group, or MPEG. This organization explores every possibility of the digital environment. MPEG-4 is the third standard it has released, following MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 (and MPEG-7 has just started).
