Part 3: JAVA 3D > CUSTOMIZING SIZE, LOCATION, AND ORIENTATION

Chapter 13. CUSTOMIZING SIZE, LOCATION, AND ORIENTATION

Topics in This Chapter

  • Changing the scale, location, and orientation of objects

  • Creating object hierarchies

  • Loading and transforming VRML worlds

In this chapter you'll learn how to change the location, orientation and scale of three-dimensional objects in the virtual world. Because VRML and Java 3D have a lot in common when it comes to transforming objects in this way, you may find Chapter 7, "Customizing Location, Size, and Orientation," to be a good general introduction to the various concepts found here (although it's not necessary to read Chapter 7 in advance, you might find it a valuable primer to this chapter). You'll also learn how those objects can be arranged into hierarchies, and how VRML worlds can be loaded into a Java 3D universe.
