Java 3D Scene Graph and API Basics

Software developers use Java 3D API classes to construct scene graphs that represent virtual universes. In order to customize existing Java 3D programs (or to begin writing your own Java 3D programs, for that matter), you must first become familiar with the basic structure of Java 3D scene graphs and the Java 3D API classes that scene graphs are constructed from.

In the next section we'll explore fundamental properties that are common to all Java 3D scene graphs. Then we'll take a look at the classes in the Java 3D API class hierarchy that correspond to key scene graph elements.
