Missing in (Inter)action: Non-DOM Environments

What is missing from the previous list? IE4 (Macintosh and Windows) is missing from it. But almost no one uses IE4 any more, making its lack of DOM support pretty much of a nonissue. The iCab browser discussed in Chapter 8, “XHTML by Example: A Hybrid Layout (Part I),” is also missing from the list. That's likely not a major concern, either. Because iCab users lack access to the proprietary script-based interactivity found on nearly all websites, they are unlikely to be shocked by lack of access to your site's DOM-based interactivity.

Netscape 4 is also missing from the list. That might present a genuine problem for some. However, a few pages from now we'll share a simple DOM-sniffing technique that allows you to serve alternate content to Netscape 4 or almost any other browser that responds to JavaScript but does not understand the DOM.
