Implementing Customization

If you choose not to support the user's Control Panel settings, you should consider providing some alternative mechanism for allowing the user to control the colors and fonts used by your application. In fact, even if you do support the Control Panel settings, you might want to allow the user to change nonsystem items such as the label text font.

Building such an interface is straightforward using the FontDialog and ColorDialog controls and techniques we've already examined. There remains the issue of persisting between sessions—after all, requiring the users to reconfigure the application at the beginning of each session would be much worse than not allowing them to configure it at all.
