Chapter 15. Managing Data Display > Managing Data Entry

Managing Data Entry

As we saw in Part III, choosing the correct control to represent an attribute goes a long way toward handling the data entry. But there are a couple of issues that apply on the entity level that can make data entry easier, and we'll examine them here.

Carrying Forward Values

When users are doing bulk data entry, it is often the case that certain attribute values will be shared by a batch. All of the Order entities in a single batch, for example, are likely to have the same OrderDate attribute. In these situations, carrying forward the values from new row to new row is convenient for the user. (Just be sure to give the user the option of turning the behavior off.)
