Chapter 20. Reporting

I once met a man who claimed to enjoy implementing reports. I know several people who enjoy ironing, so I supposed it's possible. But most of us, including me, find the whole process fiddly at best. It's certainly gotten a lot easier in recent years with the appearance of sophisticated reporting engines such as Crystal Reports, which is included with Visual Studio. But frankly, they're still not a lot of fun. All the more important, then, that you at least be able comfort yourself with the thought that the reports won't be as tedious for your users as they are for you. We'll look at some techniques in this section that will, with a bit of luck and some help from your users, help you to achieve this.
