Chapter 9. Complex Layouts > Coordinated Structures

Coordinated Structures

The other common type of complex form is the coordinated layout, in which one set of data controls and is coordinated with another. Coordinated forms are frequently called “master-detail” forms, but although that is probably the most common relationship displayed in a coordinated form, there are other coordinated structures that are useful in different situations.

Coordinated Regions

Grouping data into regions on a form using either a GroupBox or a Panel is a common technique, and a useful aid in understanding the data displayed. A coordinated region is similar, but the actual data displayed changes depending on the controlling record.
