Keeping It Moving Long Term

There is an ongoing need for leadership. Resistance to the usability effort often won't appear until the infrastructure is in place and people have to start changing their design conventions, methods, and development schedules.

It is easy for usability programs to lose steam. Usability committees may spend so much time and effort creating a standards document that they don't have the energy to disseminate and support it. Usability groups may get discouraged by fighting turf battles or having to say the same things over and over. Building a successful usability program requires ongoing commitment.
