Part: IV Long-Term Operations

Part IV: Long-Term Operations

Figure P-4. Long-Term Operations

In the Long-Term Operations phase, the full infrastructure and the usability team become operational. Usability is now a routine part of every project.

  • You will no longer build a site or application first and then merely hope it really will be what users need.

  • You will not let the technical design of a system alone drive the selection of controls for ease of use.

  • You will be ahead of your competitors if they have not completed their own usability efforts—this is a significant benefit to your brand and corporate efficiency.

The organization is working effectively, but there must be an ongoing process of renewal, evaluation, and enhancement. Usability is not such a simple issue that the organization will continue to flourish without attention from the executive level and ongoing excellence from within the usability team.
