Problem

On many Web sites, people often cannot tell when they arrive what the company or site offers.

When customers come to your site for the first time and don't see a clear, persuasive promise about what your company or site has to offer, they must figure it out on their own. Sometimes they will leave the site right then and there because they cannot be bothered or they don't have time. Sometimes they surf around your site to find the answer, and sometimes they never do understand the site or company's full value, even if you have stated it on the homepage.
