Problem

Customers want to collect and purchase several items in one transaction. Online shopping carts can provide much more than their offline namesakes, such as making it easy to change the quantity of an item in the cart. However, making shopping carts simple and useful requires restraint.

The shopping cart is a common way to let customers keep track of what they want before they finalize a purchase. Clear ACTION BUTTONS (K4) throughout the site must indicate how to get to the shopping cart and how to put items in it. Let customers use your shopping cart without having to enter personal information. This will encourage them to browse. Once customers arrive at the critical shopping cart page, the existence of too many options can distract them into wandering off without completing their orders. Give shoppers the opportunity to continue shopping at this stage, but encourage them to check out too.
