After deciding what you want to learn, think about how you will get this information. If people are having problems with a portion of the Web site, the straightforward thing to do is to test tasks that rely on that part and see what the problems are. If you want to test a new design, it is useful to compare it to the old design or to a competitor's Web site. This approach is also useful for getting general feedback about an existing Web site.
