Part: III Appendixes > Recruiting the Right Participants

Recruiting the Right Participants

One of the most important parts of successful online and offline research is recruiting the right participants. Procure your participant base through existing customer lists, partner lists, or site intercept research, or contract with an online research company to find your audience.

To pull existing customers from a customer database, all you need are e-mail addresses. If you need specific participants, such as customers who have bought a product multiple times before on your site, or customers who spend less than 15 minutes during each session on your site, your databases need to store this information. If you do not have this second level of information, use intercept research; that is, pop up a short questionnaire to a random sample of visitors to your site, to qualify participants.
