Background

Part of providing BROWSABLE CONTENT (B2) is including a feedback mechanism that lets people know where they are. NAVIGATION BARS (K2) and TAB ROWS (K3) provide feedback on their own, but other navigation schemes do not. It can be quite a challenge for customers to know where they are on some Web sites, and how to get back to where they came from, especially on large sites. Location bread crumbs, also known as trail markers, provide location indicators that customers can also use as navigation. This pattern describes ways of using location bread crumbs effectively.
