Consider Combining Embedded Links with External Links

One technique that the New York Times uses for its news articles is to merge embedded links with external links. If customers click on an embedded link, they jump to the bottom of the page, where there is a section labeled as external links.

The advantage of this approach is that it makes it easy for the reader to see all of the external links after they have finished reading a news article. It also lets customers go to external Web sites, making clear which links point to those sites.
