Consider Pop-Up Windows for Some Embedded Links

Maintain coherence on a page by making the links open up POP-UP WINDOWS (H6). The benefit to this approach is that customers can view the linked material in the new window, without losing track of the original page. This technique is useful, for example, when a visitor needs to see extra information, such as a definition, or when a visitor is going through a PROCESS FUNNEL (H1).

In considering pop-up windows for your links, remember that having a lot of new windows can quickly become confusing. Also no patterns have emerged for representing links that open up new windows. For now, use this technique sparingly and only in places where it really makes sense.
