Choose a Minimum Screen Resolution That the Web Site Will Support

The first step is to survey your customers to determine their screen resolutions and how many customers you want to support. How many view Web pages at a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels? How many at 800 × 600? How many have something better? Ultimately, you will have to decide on the minimum size that your Web site will support. This minimum will not cut out visitors with smaller screens entirely, but it will make reading and navigating your Web pages a little more difficult for these customers.
