Pattern Group G. Advanced E-Commerce > Sell Related Products during Checkout

Sell Related Products during Checkout

If there are important related products that the customer has forgotten to purchase, you can suggest them again from the SHOPPING CART (F3), the ORDER SUMMARY (F7), and the ORDER CONFIRMATION AND THANK-YOU (F8) pages (see Figures G2.5 and G2.6). This is similar to what grocers do with impulse buys at the checkout stand, but you can provide much more relevant products because you already know what is in your customer's shopping cart and what will be of additional value. Again, you must make it simple and quick to add these related items because your first priority is to close the primary sale.

Figure G2.5. On the basis of what the customer has placed in the shopping cart, Amazon.com provides links (at the bottom) to related products.
