Help Community Members Write Their Reviews

It can be quite difficult to write reviews, especially for a customer who has never done it before. Help your customers by providing some structure (see Figure G4.2). Having a customer write a review is a two-step PROCESS FUNNEL (H1):

  1. Let the customer write a title for the review, and provide a separate area for the text of the review. Include a section to give the product a numerical rating. Provide writing guidelines that specify what to say and how to say it. For example, book reviews should focus on the content of the book and describe why the reader liked or disliked it. However, reviews should avoid giving away book and movie endings, should refrain from profanity, and should not attack the authors personally (although attacking their skills as authors is legitimate).

  2. Let the customer review what he or she has written, and show how it will appear, before it is posted. Give customers the opportunity to go back and edit if they choose.
