Keep in Mind That U.S. Government Web Sites Must Have Clear and Conspicuous Privacy Policies

All federal SELF-SERVICE GOVERNMENT (A4) Web sites in the United States are required by law and policy to establish clear privacy policies and to comply with those policies. In June 1999, the Office of Management and Budget published a memorandum directing every U.S. federal agency to post a PRIVACY POLICY (E4) on all major entry points of its Web site, as well as on Web pages where substantial personal information is collected.[2] The memorandum also stated that the privacy policy must inform Web site visitors of three things: what information the agency collects about individuals, why it is collected, and how it is used.
