Time and Access

News stories on television, on radio, and in print last only the moment, the day, or sometimes the week (they are called newspaper piles), and then they are banished to a library archive. In other words, they appear now and then become mostly inaccessible tomorrow. Web-based news is different in that you can deliver any kind of news—up-to-the-second news, two-week-old news, or five-year-old news—and readers can still access it online. The information in your database remains both newsworthy and historical in value (see Figure A2.2).
