Lab 2.1 Human-Computer Interaction Foundations

Lab Objectives

After this lab, you will be able to:

  • Identify the Main Components of Human-Computer Interaction

  • Identify and Understand the Goals of Human-Computer Interaction

  • Discuss Historical and Future Issues of Human-Computer Interaction

Today, almost twenty years from its inception, we say that human-computer interaction (HCI) concerns the design of interactive computing systems for human use and the study of the contexts in which those systems are used. Note that HCI is a wider area of interest than most people imagine. We must take into account not just the actual interactions between people and computers, but the reasons those interactions were necessary and the human consequences of the interactions after they have occurred.
