ANALYSIS

Local content is not the same thing as localized content; Monster.com illustrates the value of both. Local content is content created specifically for that market, such as promotions, press releases, and the job ads themselves. Localized content is anything that was created outside that market and now must be adapted (and often translated) for that market.

Each Monster site is managed in country, so the content itself—the job ads— is supplied by local clients in the target language. All Monster must do is supply a localized web template for each country office to build on. The balance of local and localized content results in a web site that looks pretty much the same, country to country, but acts like a local job site within each country.
