GLOBAL GATEWAY

After localizing the source page into three target pages, you’ll need to devise a strategy for directing users to their localized web pages. If you assume that most web site visitors speak English, the English-language web page should be the landing page. You also want visitors to find their localized web pages quickly, however, so the gateway should be easy to find and available on all web pages, as shown in Figure 10. This global gateway embedded at the top of every web page is very basic, but works better than most major corporate gateways because the language selection is far easier to find. Too many companies unintentionally hide their gateways.

Figure 10. The global gateway is now embedded at the top of all pages.
