Site Usability and Accessibility

For all the interesting and well-presented content on the Web, probably one hundred times as much is just plain wasteful. Remember that the World Wide Web was invented to foster sharing of information among scientists throughout the world. As more and more people graduated college and clamored to keep their Internet access, Internet service providers popped up to meet the demand. This eventually led to a Web that was more commercial in its purposes than academic.

As the masses continued to pour onto the Web, they began to demand authoring tools that were more like their word processors—programs that enabled them to make up a Web page as they would have it look and then write out the corresponding HTML code. This brought about two unfortunate consequences:
