The end user needs a compatible Web browser to run applets. To run servlets, you'll need a Web server that knows how to invoke the JVM. Most of the popular Web servers support servlets, either directly or through third-party add-ons.

Your choice of a server will be determined by many factors. Most of the servers you're likely to choose will support servlets. Check their documentation to ensure that you'll get the capabilities that you want.
