Chapter 27. Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML > Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML Libraries

Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML Libraries

As mentioned in the previous section, a number of freely available JavaScript libraries can be used to implement Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML functions. The first of these is Netscape's own Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML API (Application Programming Interface), available through its "Introduction to Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform, Backwardly Compatible JavaScript and Dynamic HTML" at http://developer.netscape.com/tech/dynhtml/. Through this page, you can download, view, and use the collection of JavaScript functions included in Netscape's xbdhtml.js API for implementing Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML functionality between Navigator 4 and Internet Explorer.

Another freely available library of Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML JavaScript functions was developed by Dan Steinman and is included on the CD-ROM that accompanies this book and also at its home on The Dynamic Duo Web site. Most of this chapter is spent on the functions in this library and some sample applications that show their use.
