To Frame or Not to Frame

Frames have been both a source of frustration and empowerment for Web site designers and visitors alike. The frustration comes from a number of concerns. First, frames divide the available browser space, which is preciously restricted to begin with. Frames, particularly in their bordered manifestation, literally take what is a small, contained space and break that space up into smaller, even more contained spaces (see Figure 15.1).
