Managing Elements

Element management in XHTML 1.0 also is very strict. There are two types of elements, as follows:

  • Non-Empty Elements— These are elements that contain content within their open and closing tags, such as the paragraph element, the table data element, and the bold element.

  • Empty Elements— These are elements that contain no data within them. In HTML, these are represented by one tag, such as a break, a horizontal rule, an image tag, or a meta tag.
