Chapter 13. Using Images in XHTML Documents > Designing for the Real World

Designing for the Real World

Exhibiting Your Work

Now that you know how to use images on your Web pages, you can use those skills to create a gallery on your site. Although your photos or images might or might not be of the same quality as Christopher Burkett's, you can share your visions with the world.

Christopher Burkett is a renowned photographer. His Web site displays some of his best work (don't miss a look at "Summer Heather Garden"). The site is simple and easy to navigate, letting the power of Burkett's photographs send the message of the site. Each thumbnail image links to a larger image of the same work. This enables visitors to see several images at once and choose the specific works they want to see in more detail. The thumbnails also load quickly, because they are very small in size. By clicking a thumbnail, the visitor is accepting the longer download time of a larger image.
