Advertising Banners

One of the most popular methods of advertising Web sites is getting involved in an advertising banner campaign. Banners improve visibility of a product or Web site and, in some cases, have proven to be a helpful method of gaining product recognition and boosting sales on the Web.

Size Conventions

Typically, advertising groups require specific, standardized sizes and guidelines for banner creation. The average banner size is 468×60 pixels (see Figure 30.8), with a recommended file size of 8KB or less. You do have to check with the methods employed by the group you decide to work with, however, as their guidelines will differ.
