Chapter 10. Adding Lists to XHTML Documents > Designing for the Real World

Designing for the Real World

Using Lists: Dinosauria and Publisher's Weekly

As mentioned throughout this chapter, lists help create a flow to your Web pages. They also provide built-in whitespace to make the page easier on the eyes. As with all things XHTML, lists need to be used in proper balance with the rest of your content. If you break your content down into too many bulleted items, you risk losing depth in your subject matter as everything becomes a "sound bite."

Lists don't necessarily have to be used as a series of one-liners, however. The Dinosauria uses lists to divide larger chunks of information. The bullets allow your eyes to easily jump from topic to topic, while each item provides a complete explanation of a particular dinosaur myth.
